World of Knowledge / Stories / Restore our honor

Do you know what the weirdest thing is? That us humans happily saw off the branch we are sitting on. Fully aware of the consequences, we are destroying our home planet. This unspeakable stupidity and short-sightedness must be unique throughout the universe. Is this the sorry soul of humanity, or can we still restore our honor to future generations?

The Earth Day theme for 2021 is ‘Restore our Earth.’ It fits well with our ‘take action’ philosophy here at KnowledgeCotton Apparel. The ruthless exploitation of our planet has gone so far that it is not only enough that we stop our self-destructive behavior. We must actively begin to restore and recreate what we have destroyed.

At a time when people just want things to go back to the way they were before, the challenge seems even greater. But the spirit of the times can also mean an opportunity. We all know that going back to ’business-as-usual’ isn’t an option. After all, it was business-as-usual that put us here in the first place.

The ‘new normal’ must represent commitment, sacrifice and solidarity. It is not enough to be aware of the problems, everyone needs to step up and contribute in whatever way they can based on their own conditions. Nobody can do everything but everyone can do something. And many small things together make a big difference.

So, does a manifestation like Earth Day really matter? Don’t people just get tired of hearing the nagging about our threatened planet? Views like these, oddly enough, are quite common. But to us, it seems reasonable that we start treating our planet as if we intend to stay. All initiatives that inspire change deserve our support. Yours too. Because, only together we can restore our honor to the generations to come.

Let’s make Every Day Earth Day.
